QNET Explained

During my time in the direct selling industry, I am often asked to explain the role QNET plays and what makes them special. To fully understand this, let's first understand the difference between traditional and modern marketing systems. First off, marketing as I understand it is the process of creating awareness and demand for a product or services and using a supply chain management system to ensure that they reach the end user more effectively.

Traditional marketing has a manufacturer/producer, a whole lot of middleman such as wholesalers, retailers and finally the customers. Traditional advertising such as radio, TV, billboards is also utilized to spread the word to the public about a new product or service. This means then that the final product's price is determined by how many middlemen the said product went through to get to the customer. Simply put, the product becomes pricey and sometimes is of lower quality due to cost cutting by the manufacturer, as shown below.

Modern marketing also has manufacturers and customers without which no business would function. But the middleman, advertisements and monitoring of demand and supply has undergone lots of changes. Modern marketing has totally eliminated the middlemen and the need for traditional advertising and is passing 60%-80% of middlemen revenue to consumers who put some effort to marketing products by way of word of mouth. This means then that since the final product is cheaper and of a better quality as more money is saved and utilized to create better products and services.

Direct selling, one such form of modern marketing, is a growing and exciting industry that provides companies an alternative channel of the distribution and sale of products and/or services directly to customers, away from a traditional retail location. The industry allows businesses to connect with customers one-on-one, be it in person, online, by phone or through catalog sales. This ‘connection’ to customers is achieved through independent distributors.

In emerging markets, direct sales companies and distributors benefit from both strong market growth and an attractive earning opportunity, while the region itself benefits from skill development and increased self-sufficiency of its people. In more mature markets, direct selling creates a truly unique distribution method that fosters community interaction while bringing additional income, personal growth, and peer recognition to distributors.

The direct selling profession is a viable option for people of all ages and genders and from all income and education levels. The industry emerged as a way to deliver products to customers in a personalized, ‘direct’ manner and has never stopped growing. Throughout its long history, direct selling has proven itself time and time again as a resilient profession, particularly in times of economic difficulty.
