INSIGHT: Let QNET Lead You To Financial Freedom

Have you been chasing money but you didn't know exactly why or how much you needed? How much is enough? Do you have anything to measure it by? I do not know about you but for the longest time, I was chasing money but my reasons wheren't really clear to me. Not until I heard the definition of financial freedom.

Ask people to define financial freedom and you will get a different answer each time. What is the first thing that comes to your mind? To some, financial freedom means being able to afford such things as lavish vacations, expensive cars, boats, expensive clothes, jewelry, or luxurious homes. Their definition of financial freedom is having money to burn.

Others see financial freedom as being completely debt free and owning all of their possessions with no mortgage, credit card payments, or car payments. They define financial freedom as having no bills to pay. Many believe that being able to easily cover all expenses and still have enough leftover to enjoy good vacations while also being able to handle most emergency situations without putting a strain on their budget. Financial freedom to them means earning a salary that allows them to live comfortably.

Others see financial freedom as having enough money to retire for the rest of their lives. No daily commute, demanding boss, or deadlines to face. Being able to sleep as late as they want or stay up as long as they want and the ability to pursue their interests and hobbies. Therefore, they see financial freedom as not having to work.

There are also those who view financial freedom as having an extra income, adding to their present income to boost their financial status. They search daily for low risk, high return investments hoping to fall into a fantastic deal that will put them into a higher financial bracket. They define financial freedom as having an additional income.

"Financial freedom happens when your wants and your needs are exceeded by your passive income."

Bestselling author T. Harv Eker's definition of financial freedom is "...the ability to live the lifestyle you desire without having to work or rely on anyone else for money."

Financial freedom means different things to different people. Until I heard of and read the above definitions, I always assumed that people who were "financially free" were rich. I have come to learn that financial freedom isn’t the same as being rich. Financial Freedom is the ability to acquire the lifestyle that you want on a sustainable basis.

You control the level of sustainabilty, the bar, so to speak. You may need $2,500 per month to be free...free from having to have a job or having to answer to anyone else on a daily basis. Thinking of becoming rich is daunting but financial freedom was doable. Freedom is well within reach. $2,500 per month is doable, if you gain the right assets.

When you become financially free at a modest level, you can have the luxury of persueing your hopes and dreams 24/7/365 days a year. You may soon realize that the sooner you became financially free, the sooner you can have your run at being wealthy. Wealth, if you don't know, is the abundance of valuable resources or material possessions. Wealth is being rich, but being rich through ownership of assets. Wealthy people don’t rely on their job, one particular asset, or even their natural talents. Wealthy people own assets and if you took away their job (if they have one) they would not be poor.

I find that to attain financial freedom faster your desire for "chunks of money" has to be replaced with the desire for "slices of cash flow" that add up to the amount of money that you need to sustain your desired lifestyle. Enjoying that kind of free and prosperous lifestyle you wished for is obviously something very desirable, and I believe that we all have the potential and the ability to succeed financially.

So how can you attain financial freedom?

True financial freedom exists only when your sustainable passive income exceeds the cost of your lifestyle.

Passive income is money you earn without the need for you to work for it. Examples may include, commercial or residential rents that you receive from properties that you own or control, dividends from shares that you have, profits from a business run under management that you own and so on. Basically anything that makes you money without the need for you to actively involved.

To my way of thinking, if your business produces more money than you, the owner, requires to pay all your bills needed to live your chosen lifestyle, even if this means that you had to apply a few hours a week to maintain that level of income, I would class that as Financial Freedom.

The benefits of financial freedom include; less stress as you don’t have to bring home a set amount of money every month, freedom to take risks e.g. start a business, freedom to do a job you like rather than a job you hate that pays better, freedom to spend more time with your loved ones, freedom to tell your boss to go screw him/herself if they make unreasonable demands, freedom to do volunteer work, etc.
