Water makes up more than half of your body weight and a person can't survive for more than a few days without it. Why? Your body has lots of important jobs and it needs water to do many of them. For instance, your blood, which contains a lot of water, carries oxygen to all the cells of your body. Without oxygen, your cells would die and your body would stop working.
Water is also a fluid that is part of your immune system, which helps you fight off illness. You need water to digest your food and get rid of waste, too. Water is needed for digestive juices, urination, defication and perspiration. There’s no doubt that water is important becuase just like mother Earth, water makes up 70% of the human body.
Why is it then that we, as a people, take advantage of our access to clean drinking water. Most of us go to the faucet and get a glass of clean fresh water several times a day and never give the first thought to the importance of water. We are so accustomed to having it, we rarely think about what our lives would be like, if we had to struggle to find water that was even halfway safe to drink.
